Charles K. Whitehead is the Myron C. Taylor Alumni Professor of Business Law at Cornell Law School and Founding Director of the Law, Technology and Entrepreneurship Program at Cornell Tech. Professor Whitehead specializes in the law relating to corporations, the capital markets, and strategic transactions.

Before entering academia, Professor Whitehead held senior legal and business positions in financial services, including as a Managing Director of Salomon Brothers in New York, Citigroup Country Officer for Japan and head of Citigroup's Corporate Bank in Japan.

Professor Whitehead has visited Ukraine regularly since 2014, traveling across the country as a Fulbright expert, lecturer, visiting professor, and founder of Ukraine's premier early-stage tech business incubator. He is Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Startup Fund, Ukraine's largest tech startup grant program. Professor Whitehead is also the sole American to receive an honorary doctor's degree from Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University, Ukraine's top law faculty, located in Kharkiv, Ukraine.

Charles K. Whitehead is the Myron C. Taylor Alumni Professor of Business Law at Cornell Law School and the Founding Director of the Law, Technology and Entrepreneurship program at Cornell Tech. Professor Whitehead specializes in the law relating to corporations, the capital markets, and strategic transactions.

Before entering academia, Professor Whitehead represented clients in transactions around the world and held senior legal and business positions in the financial services industry in New York and Tokyo, including as a Managing Director of Salomon Brothers and Citigroup. His experience includes a range of financial, capital markets, and strategic transactions. Professor Whitehead was the first Citigroup Country Officer for Japan, the head of Citigroup’s Corporate Bank in Japan, and the Chief Operating Officer of Citigroup’s investment bank in Japan.

Professor Whitehead has visited Ukraine regularly since 2014, traveling across the country as a Fulbright expert, lecturer, visiting professor, and founder of Ukraine’s premier early-stage tech business incubator. He is the Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Startup Fund, which is Ukraine’s largest tech startup grant program, administered under Ukraine’s Ministry of Finance. Professor Whitehead is also the sole American to receive an honorary doctor’s degree from Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University, Ukraine’s top law faculty, located in Kharkiv, Ukraine.

Professor Whitehead was a law clerk to the Hon. Ellsworth A. Van Graafeiland, U.S. Court of Appeals (2nd Circuit). He is a graduate of Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and a James Kent Scholar, and Cornell University, magna cum laude.
