Thomas Pontin is Co-Founder of Shikuma Capital, an investment management company focused on delivering superior risk-adjusted returns through an actively managed global investment approach. Prior to founding Shikuma Capital, Thomas spent 5 years at ADG Capital Management, a systematic macro fund, where he was responsible for global sales and marketing to institutional clients. During this time he was instrumental in growing the business from $100m to $3.4bn. Prior to ADG, Thomas was responsible for sales and marketing at Harmonic Capital, Fulcrum Asset Management and F&C Alternative Investments.
With a background in establishing, developing and raising assets within the global macro and managed futures space and having been instrumental in growing several hedge funds from early stage to multiple billions in assets, Thomas decided in 2020 that it was time to stop working for someone else's fund and start a new fund with 3 co-founders, all of whom brought different skill sets and experiences to the endeavour.
Join us to hear Thomas' insights into:
Making the decision to become an entrepreneur
Making the transition from employee to co-founder
The good, the bad and the ugly of setting up a hedge fund from scratch.
