Evolution of a Business: From Single Family Office to Multi Family Office to Professional Fund House

Sanjay Guglani, Founder & CIO of Silverdale Funds, will share his fascinating story of creating Silverdale Group in London in the 2000's. How the collapse of his JV with Lehman Bros prompted him to change direction and start a Family Office, how it evolved into an MFO, and how its success resulted in transformation into a multi-billion dollar fund house.

He will share the choices he made - the rationale and results: how & why he took the unconventional route of focusing on fixed income, the fixed income world from the prism of the family office, the structure he adopted, and his experience of dealing with dozens of family offices across the globe.

Joining him will be his daughter, Urvi Guglani, who will share her journey leaving PIMCO to join the family business, how she triangulates her professional career, wealth management, and finding a purpose.

Sanjay Guglani is the Founder of The Silverdale Group, Director & Chief Investment Officer of Silverdale Fund VCC, and Director & Chief Executive Officer of Silverdale Capital Pte Ltd.

Sanjay has over 30 years of investment experience managing over a billion-dollars across a dozen funds, inter alia: Silverdale Bond Fund, Silverdale Asia Bond Fund, Silverdale Fixed Maturity Funds, and Silverdale MultiStrategy Fund.

Earlier, as Managing Director of Silverdale UK, his firm channelized over US$ 4 billion of investments into emerging markets, including in joint venture with Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and Lehman Brothers.

Investing is a passion for Sanjay, and he has been a frequent guest lecturer at various business schools in UK, India, and Singapore. His expert opinions are widely sought by media, from The Wall Street Journal to Economic Times India, The Straits Times Singapore to The Yield Report Australia, from CNBC to ET Now. He has delivered presentations at several forums, including at the United Nations.

By qualification, Sanjay is a Chartered Accountant, Management Accountant, Company Secretary, and Sloan Fellow of Management from the London Business School (as British Chevening Scholar).

Urvi Guglani is a Senior Associate working on Growth & Strategy at Silverdale Capital, a MAS-licensed fixed-income fund management company. Urvi previously worked at PIMCO (New York) in their Portfolio Management division, working closely with the CIO to support him on the flagship and other strategies such as Total Return strategy, Municipal strategy and Canadian strategies. Before that, Urvi was a Quant Researcher at BlackRock’s Systematic Hedge Fund (FIGA).

Urvi is the Founder of the Female Bond Fellowship, a 10-week twice-a-year global fellowship providing mentorship, education, and speaker series, and year-long education on fixed income. Urvi is a WSA Global Ambassador, a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers Community, and also represents Singapore in the Harpswell ASEAN Women’s initiative.

By qualification, Urvi is a double major from UC Berkeley, where she studied Computer Science and Economics (with Honors).
